As our new Accounts Assistant you will primarily cover the day-to-day accounts function for the whole firm, and to assist the Deputy Manager and Accounts Manager as required. A substantial proportion of the role will be dealing with transactions relating to conveyancing matters.
Role Responsibilities

- Regular Monitoring of client account spreadsheets so that payments received are allocated quickly but accurately to the correct ledgers.
- Check and prepare Payment forms for submission to Central Accounts in Sheffield for processing, as required for each department.
- Submit accounts slips as required on behalf of the fee earner.
- Assisting and supporting all staff within Butterworths in relation to any accounts queries.
- Check and collate Purchase Ledger invoices and case invoices for submission to Central Accounts in Sheffield for processing.
- Retrieval/storage of deeds from our off-site facility via our online portal.
- Residual balance investigation.
- Managing stationary supplies and re-ordering as required.
- You may be required to perform any other duties and to work in any other areas as requested by the Company, if necessary, which may include other offices and those of clients.
What we need from you
What do we need from you?
- Experience of accounts and cashiering in a legal environment is preferred (all levels considered) but full training will be provided.
- Ability to work with detailed financial information.
- Accurate with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Can work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Has an excellent telephone manner, client care and enthusiasm.
- Must be able to communicate well both orally and in writing.
- Trustworthy, proactive and well organised with an ability to use own initiative.
- Competent knowledge, use of, and skills in Microsoft Office including MS-Word, MS-Outlook, MS-Teams and MS-Excel.
- Understanding of e-mail systems, portals and other IT as appropriate.
