As our newly appointed Family Legal Assistant you will be in one of our key full-time roles. You assist with the timely progression of Family cases through excellent client care and administrative support. Your commitment is to provide 1:2:1 support to the Family Department. You will work to achieve individual and team key targets and objectives. You will also be attentive to ensure compliance with service level agreements and internal processes and procedures.

Role Responsibilities

  • Communicating with clients over the telephone, by email and in face-to-face meetings and with other solicitors and professional organisations as part of the Family Team providing the highest level of customer service to clients at all times.
  • Assisting fee earners in ensuring matters are progressed and clients are updated in line with the terms of business.
  • Carrying out Solicitor and Client Due diligence.
  • Requesting Documentation fundamental to the matter.
  • Ensuring documents are returned by clients and work providers, chasing them if required and progressing Transactions.
  • Logging correspondence to the correct files / matters.
  • Entering data into the correct fields in the case management system from correspondence received.
  • Logging and completing tasks on the case management system.
  • Assisting in the preparation of Trial Bundles.
  • Performing general administration tasks, including answering telephones.
  • Assisting with the smooth running of matters for the Family Team.
  • Liaising with accounting staff in respect of related queries, invoicing, recording payments & receipts.
  • Prepare correspondence through digital dictation and copy typing.
  • Retrieve outsourced typing, collate and finalise correspondence for issuing and saving into the case management system.
  • Be a role model for those around you in both file management, actions and behaviour.
  • Ensure individual compliance with all policies and procedures at all times.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings.

  • Has a positive can-do attitude with a flexible approach to a wide variety of tasks.
  • Have experience of working in a legal or professional environment.
  • Have some experience with the use of Proclaim case management system or other case management system.
  • Be competent in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, and general computer skills.
  • Have good comprehension skills relating to the understanding of a range of documents related to a case.
  • Able to write clearly, correctly and concisely.
  • Excellent telephone manner and verbal communication skills.
